Synopsys Probed for Allegedly Supplying Chip Design Software to Chinese Companies

Synopsys, just one of the major suppliers of electronic style automation (EDA) software program equipment applied to structure chips, is getting probed for allegedly giving their merchandise to blacklisted Chinese providers.  

Investigators from the U.S. Division of Commerce are searching into allegations that Synopsys has furnished EDA instruments to Huawei’s HiSilicon device to make chips at Semiconductor Production Intercontinental Corp., according to a Bloomberg report that cites two people today with knowledge of the make any difference. The computer software products and solutions have been reportedly supplied by using ‘affiliates in China’ while it is unclear which applications or IP have been delivered to Huawei’s HiSilicon and SMIC as well as when.
